Day 1 Depart Nairobi for Namanga border town, continue to Arusha for lunch after immigration formalities. Afternoon at leisure in Arusha. Dinner and overnight in a hotel. Day 2 Drive from Arusha to Marangu gate. The climb starts at Marangu gate through the fascinating rain forest to Mandara hut at 2744m (9000ft) Meals and overnight at the hut.
Day 3 After breakfast climb through Alpine Meadows the altitude starts to be felt. Enjoying the Fora and view of Mamwenzi peak, Horombo Hut is reached at 3167m covering 12km from Mandara. Meals and covering overnight at Horombo Hut. .
Day 4 After breakfast resume the climb. The landscape becomes rugged and rocky. Giant groundsel and Lobellas appears. Kibo hut is reached at 4732m at the base of the peak itself
Day 5 No water or firewood is available after this point. Hours of the morning at 2:00am. It takes about 5 hours to climb the steepest and most difficult part of the route to Gilman's point 5,681m (18640ft). From Gilman's takes 1.5 to 2hrs to Uhuru Peak 5,896m (19340ft). Descend to Horombo for dinner and overnight.
Day 6 Descent is rapid. After breakfast, walk down the Marangu gate for transfer to Arusha. Dinner and overnight in Arusha.
Day 7 Transfer back to Nairobi or proceed to the next destination.
Day 1 In the morning we leave Nairobi accompanied by our mountain guide. Reach Nanyuki in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight in Nanyuki, the base town of Mt. Kenya climb. Day 2 A short drive in the morning will take us to the Sirimon track. We start our trek, walk to old Moses Camp through the rain forest for 9km (5 hours walk) night at Old Moses Camp. (3500m).
Day 3 After breakfast we walk via Mackinders Valley to Shipton's camp (4200m) Dinner and overnight at the camp. Day 4 Early in the morning we climb point Lenana (4985m) on a very clear day we should be able to see Kilimanjaro in the South, Mt Elgon to the West and Indian Ocean to the East. Descend to Shipton's camp for breakfast then to Mackinder's camp for overnight.
Day 5 After breakfast, descend out through Met-station to Naromoru gate. Nairobi is reached in the afternoon.
These climbs are only available in conjunction with another safari. Minimum 2 guests. Only budget (primitive) camping is available on these two climbs. Participants should be in good physical condition and dressed and equipped properly.
Included in the price is your Guide, porter (15kg maximum), park fees, cook, food, accommodation in huts on the Marangu route), overnight fees and transfers. Climbing gear such as boots, walking stick, sun glasses, gloves, warm clothes, and so on are not included
